        Yes, we can chat by FaceTime or in person so you can ask questions and discuss your interests.

        How long have you been teaching and what ages do you teach?

         I’ve been teaching for 24 years and accept students from ages 8 and up.

        How long is each lesson?

        Options are 30, 45, or 60 minutes for studio lessons, and 40 or 60 minutes for in-home tutoring.

      I strongly suggest 30 minutes as a starting point for beginners.

      What kind of music do you teach?

         I teach a variety of styles but include a focus on classical training to ensure good progress in all types.

      

        What is your philosophy of teaching?

        Students will progress far more quickly in an atmosphere of discovery and exploration, rather than rote

      learning. There is great benefit to be derived from the long-standing and proven classical basics, but I

      also focus on showing your child how to practice between lessons. More progress will usually result from

      shorter periods of careful quality practice than will from an overfocus on sheer volume of practice. The

      critical factor is that the teaching needs to be customized for each student based on mutual discovery and          assessment of your child's cognitive style of learning.

 

        What will my child need to start? 

       A violin in good working order, a violin case, music stand, violin rosin, bow, and a few music books I'll              suggest during your free consultation. I'll provide you information on where to rent quality instruments              that are properly sized for your child as well.

        What are your rates and payment options?      ​

        My studio rates are:                                    30 min. - $40        45 min -  $55        60 min -  $65 ​

        If I travel to your location, my rates are:   30 min - $55          40 min - $65         60 min. - $80

     

    Lessons are weekly and billed a month in advance. I accept cash, checks, credit cards, PayPal and Venmo.
